The Royal Melbourne Hospital is committed to providing nursing students with a positive clinical learning experience. This large acute care hospital has two campuses, located on the edge of the central business district of Melbourne. It is a teaching hospital which works in partnership with universities, colleges and other external stakeholders, and provides a major trauma and referral centre for north-western metropolitan Melbourne, country Victoria and interstate regions. Inpatient services include medical, surgical, intensive care, coronary care, specialist medical and surgical services, oncology, nephrology, neuroscience and rehabilitation.
Clinical placements are offered to undergraduate nursing students in line with Melbourne Health's Statement of Purpose: Securing the health of our communties through research and innovation, to deliver effective services and educate future generations.
The RMH provides a positive learning environment for the students with the aim of meeting their clinical needs and promoting the agency as a desirable institution to undertake the Graduate Nurse Program.
