The Royal Melbourne Hospital Intensive Care Unit is a 24-bed unit which accommodates patients requiring both high dependency and intensive care.
ICU patients typically include:
- Neurosurgical
- Trauma
- Complex respiratory management
- Sepsis
- Oncology
- Cardiac Surgery
- Renal Failure
- Infectious diseases
- Multiple organ failure
The Intensive Care Unit is supported by four Clinical Nurse Educators who provide clinical education and support such as:
- Orientation Program
- In-service Education Support for undergraduate students
- Clinical Development Program incorporating: The Introduction to ICU course, Bridging and Refresher programs
- Postgraduate Certificate Program
