Congratulations to the 19 legends of research who were inducted into the RMH Research Hall of Fame at the gala dinner on Saturday 21 June. RMH cardiac experts takes out top NHMRC award
In an award ceremony held in Canberra on 11 June, The Royal Melbourne Hospital’s Professor Jonathan Kalman was awarded the National Health and Medical Research Council’s top prize for excellence in health and medical research.11 June 2014
Prof Leslie wins AMA Woman in Medicine Award
RMH anaesthetist, Professor Kate Leslie has been awarded the 2014 winner of the AMA Woman in Medicine Award, in recognition of her outstanding contribution to patient care and her service to the medical profession.

Distinct Avian Influenza Viruses Found in Antarctic Penguins
An international team of researchers has, for the first time, identified an avian influenza virus in a group of Ad?lie penguins from Antarctica. The virus, found to be unlike any other circulating avian flu, is described in a study published this week in mBio®, the online open-access journal of the American Society for Microbiology.7 May 2014
